フラメンコアーティストの活躍の場の拡大と、フラメンコ舞踊を通じた地域の話題性のアップを目指し、2018年に活動をスタートした「房総フラメンコプロジェクト Chivamos（ちばもす）」。
地方公務員として働きながら、立ち上げからプロジェクトを牽引してきた菅家さんに「ちばもす」への熱い想いを聞いてみた。

どのような活動をされていますか？
菅家さん：房総エリアにおけるフラメンコの普及を目指して活動しています。都心と違って千葉県、特に市原以南には教室などもほとんどなく、フラメンコが観られる飲食店もありません。地方でフラメンコを普及させることは簡単ではないと思いますが、ステージを観てもらったり、無料講習を開くことで、少しずつフラメンコの魅力を広げていけたらなと思って活動しています。フラメンコを初めて観る方を対象にした私のような活動は、フラメンコ界ではかなり珍しいと思いますが、いつかこの地にフラメンコが根付く日を夢見て、目の前のできることを一つひとつやっていこうと思います。
地方公務員との両立で苦労する点はありますか？
菅家さん：いいえ。活動は休日に限定しているので、影響を及ぼすことはまったくありません。練習は毎朝やっていますが、すっかりルーティンとなりました。私は市原市役所の土木部土木管理課に勤務しているのですが、よく作業着を着ており、検査の際はヘルメットをかぶって現場に行きます。華やかで情熱的なフラメンコとは異なる環境なので、自分自身もメリハリがつけやすいのかもしれませんね。活動における苦労はほとんどなく、地方公務員による地域活動なのである程度の説得力があるのか、会場を借りる上での交渉がスムーズだったりするなどメリットの方が多いかもしれません。
最後にフラメンコの魅力を教えてください。
菅家さん：フラメンコは他の踊りと比べて、年齢や性別といった個の違いを受け入れるおおらかさがある踊りです。自分の個性に通じる踊り、自分が憧れるスタイルに出会えたら、時間をかけてその理想を追求する面白さがあります。また、日本人は感情を表に出すことが苦手などと言われますが、フラメンコは自然と自己表現の幅を広げることができ、心と体を健やかに保つことができます。老若男女が楽しめる踊りなので、ぜひ私たちのステージを観ていただき、フラメンコの世界に触れていただければと思います。
